Amid the release of the new Mission: Impossible film, Hayley Atwell has addressed the ‘grubby’ romance rumors circulating between herself and Tom Cruise. The star opened up on how it felt filming the seventh film in the franchise as gossip spread around the internet.
Hayley Atwell stars in Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning as the mysterious character, Grace. The Marvel actress has previously starred in movie blockbusters such as Captain America and Ant-Man. Hayley Atwell addresses Tom Cruise ‘romance’ rumors
Of course, with two hot costars in a hugely successful Blockbuster, celebrity rumors are bound to spread. Atwell and Cruise have definitely been on the receiving end recently, and Hayley has finally addressed them.
“I would be like, ‘Ooh, there’s some weird rumors, and it feels base, it feels a little dirty, it feels grubby, it’s not what I’m about,” she told The Independent. “Why are things being assumed or projected onto me about my relationship with my work colleague and boss?”
The Hollywood star also told the publication she found the rumors “upsetting” because they’re involving people in her actual and personal life, who have to be on the receiving end.
She also said she looks at Tom Cruise and director Chris McQuarrie as “sort of two uncles”.
Atwell is engaged to music producer Ned Wolfgang Kelly
Hayley is actually engaged to music producer Ned Wolfgang Kelly. The two got engaged in April after he popped the question during a romantic getaway to Venice.
The couple announced the news via Kelly’s Instagram as he wrote:
“A perfect start to the rest of our lives together. I’d never had any interest in getting married… until I met this extraordinary woman. Happy as a clam.”
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One is off to a strong start
The new Mission: Impossible movie, Dead Reckoning is already off to a strong start on its opening day as it’s currently sitting at 98% on Rotten Tomatoes on the first day of release.
At the time of writing the film has 177 reviews, and is sitting on top of the franchise, with Mission: Impossible Fallout (2018) sitting closely behind with 97% from 442 reviews.
Part Two of Dead Reckoning is set to be released in 2024.
